The Value Factory was in 2013 one of the venues of UABB, the architecture biennale of Shenzhen (China). A former glass factory rebuilt into a temple dedicated to architecture and design, holding a design studio, an academy, a gallery, an auditorium and a restaurant amongst other facilities.
The whole project of the Value Factory was curated by Ole Bouman; upon his request, Designpolitie developed the visual identity and signage of the building.
With the reconstruction, the architects very much respected and enhanced the glass factory’s original materials. Therefore, the graphic design followed that path. The recognizable chimney becomes iconic in the logo and corporate typeface, and for the rest the visuals and signage work with semi-transparent color layers, remembering the original outcome of the factory: glass.
